Coquito season is here!!! Coquito is a traditional Christmas drink, originated in Puerto Rico and Enjoyed by all Caribbean folk. Its kind of like Eggnog but wayyyy better.

Making coquito is super easy. The main ingredient in coquito is coconut milk. Eggs are traditionally used but I like mine eggless, it lasts longer and it tastes better in my opinion. Almond extract is also a little twist of mine, coconut and almonds, play really well together and although you can’t really taste it, it gives the coquito that little bit of something extra that will have your friends and family go… “hmmm thats really good, whats in this??”. White rum is typically used as well but I always do my own thing so I use coconut rum, I mean it makes sense, amirite?? Coconut drink, coconut rum- duh lol. I do have to warn you, because I use coconut rum and the taste just blends right in, its hard to tell how strong the drink is until you’re running through these NYC streets in the dead of winter talking about how hot you are lol. This may or may not have happened ;-)lol

The amount of rum used is completely up to preference, my recipe yields 7 cups and I used 1 cup of rum, its good but not knock you on your ass good. Feel free to amp the liquor up. 2 cups will make a really strong drink and anything more than that… welllll I guess I’ll be seeing you in Central park playing in the snow without a coat lol
